Supporting Cambodian families living in poverty. Our goal is to help the poorer families in the villages, by providing them with a Cow on permanent loan to providing income each year selling the offspring. Helping their lives to be less stressful and giving their children the opportunity to receive a good education. When our charity is self sufficient – we will pay for more sponsorships through the Cambodian Rural Schools Trust – a trust the gives rural students the opportunity to go to university and pursue their dream. Also continue building houses with Volunteer building Cambodia, we believe that education is the key ingredient for change. By having a cow, a family can earn income off the Cows offspring, using the cow for agriculture, whilst learning about how to look after the Cow and what’s needed to keep their cow healthy. How can you help? A breeding cow is $1000.00 AUS or $750.00 USD – These Cows belong to the Cow Club, once they are vaccinated and pregnant they go to a family to be looked after. – giving the family a calf to breed off. Once the calf is born the cow will return back to the yards for health checks and repeat the cycle and move to the next family. These cows will supply 1 calf every year to the families. A calf - $750.00 AUS or $550 USD – these are from our breeding stock. This calf will go to a family on a permanent loan; the family are not allowed to sell the calf. When ready we will provide the bull to get the calf pregnant and the family can then sell that offspring for income. Our staff visit the cows monthly to report on their health and condition and report back to us so we can inform you guys on the progress of the cows. If a boy is born then the family has the choice to either raise it as a bull or maintain a income from services he can supply. Or we will supply a young female calf. All donations are gratefully accepted to help us cover the ongoing costs involved in running the Cow Club. Examples of ongoing costs are monthly wages for “Veouy” and his family $220.00 USD an month - where the Cows are living. Managers/health advisor “Vinh” wages $100.00 USD a month. Ongoing transport expenses and feed for the cows. Vaccinations. All the donations given – go directly to the Cow Club, there are no administration fees. However we are not registered to receive a tax deduction. Thank you for your interest Karl Annie Jack and Toby Maughan
About Karls Cow Club
Karls Cambodian Cow Club-
A little about how we started,
The idea for this charity started in April 2015 when our eldest Son wanted to go to Cambodia and volunteer as a family for his 21st birthday present.
After much research – we booked in with Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC) in Siem Reap to build a house and give the family we were building for a toilet and a cow. We all fell in love with Cambodia and the Khmer people, and we wanted to help more. After seeing and finding out how much a cow can help a poor family, Karl set about trying to work out how he can help by breeding cows and selling the calfs to donors to give to families in Siem Reap
This is how Karl’s Cambodian Cow Club started, at Dets familys home with all his family helping with enthusiasm. The families will look after the pregnant cow and once the calf has been born the breeding cow will go back to KCCC. This calf is on permanent loan to the family, they can breed from it and sell the calf s from it to provide an ongoing income.
We have a lot of work to do, here in Australia fundraising as well as hands on work in Siem Reap, but our whole family are all committed to this good cause.
The future plan is – once the charity becomes better established, we can help Volunteer Building Cambodia more, as well as pay for some scholarships for Khmer children for education.
